UPDATE!
This year, for the first time ever, we’re opening the doors to our studio to everyone interested in meeting the artists contributing to the LACE symposium! Come join us in this series of open level classes, meet the artists and the team behind the event, and explore the world of dance practice that is being developed in the context of artistic research! No previous academic or research experience necessary.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9.30—11.00AM
see OPEN DOORS for details
Like the morning classes, the Opening Ceremony is accessible to everyone! You do not need to attend the whole symposium to join us at the Opening Night!
The evening opens a week of diving into exploring integration as a complex process. What would it mean to consider integration an essential, creative activity and a central aspect of experience? This evening will tap right into practicing, questioning, and reflecting on what it might mean “to integrate”. If you enjoy thinking, imagining, sensing, dancing and reflecting – all at once, come join us!
Hosts of the Opening
Deirdre Morris, pavleheidler, Sylvia Scheidl, with Rachel Tess, Frédéric Gies, and Michal Turinski

LACE Symposium is a symposium for dance and other contemporary practices committed to bringing together practitioners working at the intersection of art, academia, and activism to examine the challenge of place, the restriction of its specificity, and to explore strategies for successful interpersonal cross-cultural contact-making in the age of gentrification, polarisation, and segregation.
We create opportunities for artists and researchers working with body-based practices across genres to come together in practice-based exchange. What this means is that we don’t simply invite artists researchers to describe their work or report on their discoveries. At LACE Symposium artists researchers engage the public in an experiment, and disseminate their observation through action.
LACE Extended takes place the week after the Symposium, offering the participants of the Symposium the opportunity to extend the amount of time spent in-relation to presenters and their practices, and other participants of the event.

read about LACE Symposium:
“From strangers, to acquaintances, to companions? The LACE Symposium at the ImPulsTanz festival is not just an academic meeting. In an age of loneliness and physical disconnection lies an urgent emphasis on sensory perception, new movements and questions about how we can truly be together.”
